Public hearing on marijuana referendum set for May 10
Milwaukee County Board's Committee on Judiciary, Safety and General Services will consider on May 10 a proposal to place an advisory referendum on the November ballot.
The referendum question would ask county voters if they favor or oppose allowing personal marijuana use, commercial regulation and taxation of the plant.
County Supervisor John F. Weishan, Jr.'s proposed referendum question would read: "Do you favor allowing adults 21 years of age and older to engage in the personal use of marijuana, while also regulating commercial marijuana-related activities, and imposing a tax on the sale of marijuana?"
The meeting was rescheduled from May 11 to May 10 and will take place at 9 a.m. in room 203-R at the Milwaukee County Courthouse.
Also, the meeting will be live-streamed via the County Legislative Information Center.
If the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors adopts the resolution, the county clerk would add the question to all ballots for the November general election.
