07/05 Droids Attack, Shogun  @ Company Brewing, 735 E. Center St., 9:30 p.m.

Even though it’s been a little over two years, Madison stoner-trio Droids Attack aren’t quite done celebrating the 2016 release of their fourth studio album Sci Fi or Die, a grandiose and heavy release from a band that has been around since 2001. Through a partnership with Ale Asylum — a relationship that should surprise nobody considering Ale Asylum’s heavy-metal aesthetic — the band is releasing a beer based on the first part of a two-song epic from the album. Mashenomak: Rye Lager has a peppery rye kick and is brewed with late hops, producing a soft citrus finish. The track “Mashenomak” is based on a Native American folk tale about a fish monster that terrorized the local tribes. It swallowed the souls of all living creatures until a brave warrior named Manabush made his stand. With a beer label with art from Eli Quinn depicting the battle and an almost nine-minute song from Droids Attack to accompany it, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better way to experience the story.

Awkward Terrible, Arcade Mode, Man Random @ Bremen Cafe, 901 E. Clarke St., 10 p.m.

Are you nostalgic for the music of the bygone era of 8-bit and 16-bit video games? Awkward Terrible is a Milwaukee two-piece consisting of a guitar player, a drummer who also does vocals and a Nintendo Game Boy from the late ’80s manipulated to act as instrument. The combo creates upbeat “8-bit Punk.” Adding even more video-game nostalgia to the mix is Arcade Mode, a Milwaukee-based jazz-rock band performing jazz-fusion interpretations of video game classics such as The Legend of Zelda and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Milwaukee-based Soup Moat is releasing its full-length album Harvest of Likes on July 10 via G.L.O.S.S. records and celebrating the release of the eight-track record with a show. Soup Moat has described the band as “heavy, silly sludge,” producing tracks riddled with heavy riffs and often-strained vocals, accompanied by goofy music videos and lyrical content, including a song about girls who hang out at the Riverwest bar The Uptowner. Rounding out the lineup of local supporting bands is Brooklyn-based band Tight Fright.
