rna artist needed

The Riverwest Neighborhood Association has received a small grant to be used for transforming an electrical box into an art installation.

The electrical box, located on Holton and Locust, currently wears two different tones of unappealing brown as well as some generic, unimpressive graffiti.

The RNA is looking for an artist to turn the eye sore into a representation of unity between the Riverwest and Harambee neighborhoods. Themes include unity, peace, people power, pulling together, Harambee symbol, different age groups, diversity, history and the river.

The electrical box is approximately 69 inches tall. The south and north-facing long sides are approximately 109 inches wide, and the east and west facing sides are apprixmately 54 inches wide.

Artists are to send their ideas to by the submission deadline on March 30. A public voting session will be held for the finalists at The Public House at a soon to be announced date.

A $200 stipend will be given to the artist with the winning concept. The painting of the box will take place in April.
