Milwaukee Area Labor Council to hold Laborfest Milwaukee 2017
The event is free and open to the public to “celebrate our national day off together in solidarity.”
The Milwaukee Area Labor Council will hold Laborfest 2017 on Sept. 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Henry Maier Festival Park, 39 E. Summerfest Pl., Milwaukee. The event is free and open to the public to “celebrate our national day off together in solidarity.”
The theme of this year’s festival is “Standing Together, Standing Strong: Join the Fight for Workers’ Rights.” Laborfest 2017 will include the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists’ “Camp Union” for teens debut class graduation; a classic car show; children’s entertainment such as magic and face-painting; live music; food and beverages; and a raffle for cash prizes and a grand prize of a brand new Harley-Davidson Iron 883, union-made in Milwaukee.
A Labor Day parade featuring local union affiliates, partners, and allies will take place at 11 a.m., stretching for blocks down Wisconsin Ave. and beginning at the newly-refreshed gazebo in the Wisconsin Workers Memorial at Zeidler Union Square Park, 301 W. Michigan St., Milwaukee.
