PrideFest Milwaukee 2017 - Entertainment Schedule
The LGBT community and its allies can once again live proud June 9 to 11 at Henry W. Maier Festival Park.
On Friday, June 9, PrideFest Milwaukee opens the 30th annual celebration of local LGBTQ community and culture. The community and its allies can once again live proud June 9 to 11 at Henry W. Maier Festival Park.
The lineup
This year’s headliners include Todrick Hall, Randy Rainbow, Betty Who, 10,000 Maniacs, Steve Grand, Crystal Bowersox, Garek and Har Mar Superstar. With over 100 national and local acts on seven stages, PrideFest Milwaukee 2017 offers tremendous diversity of talent, programming, and experiences.
“Year after year, PrideFest continues to offer new surprises,” said PrideFest Milwaukee producer Kate Sherry. “We are the first summer festival using the completely redesigned Miller Lite Mainstage and VIP areas. And that’s just the beginning!”
The Miller Lite Mainstage line-up is especially diverse this year, Sherry says, featuring transgender musician Jaimie Wilson, dance diva Debbie Holiday, reality star Davis Mallory, electronic music duo Jason Maek & Zaena, country band Calibama with Brody Ray, rising local artist RAI and a number of Wisconsin festival favorites, including Party Anthem, Ian and the Dream, and Well-Known Strangers.
With the largest dance floor in Wisconsin, PrideFest Milwaukee’s Dance Pavilion will be the eye of the storm all weekend long. This year’s DJ headliners include Chris Cox, Gauthreaux & Grind, Antics, and local DJ Chomper. Celebrity hosts include Miss B.J. Daniels, Trannika Rex, Chanel D’Vine and Dixie Lynn Cartwright. In addition, the Pavilion will also host shows from D.I.X. DollHaus, Lady Gia, SWELL, BoyToy Chicago burlesque, Leather & Gear, and Zephyr Bellydance.
The Milwaukee Record Stage is back again this year, offering such popular local artists as Tigernite, The Fatty Acids, NO/NO, Abby Jeanne, and Whips, as well as comedy and DJ showcases. We’re especially proud of our Wom!nz Spot Lounge & Café, which celebrates, supports and recognizes over 100 female-identified musicians. The Wom!nz Spot features everything from aerial artists to spoken word, from hip hop to comedy.
“It’s one of the most action-packed stages of the festival!,” Sherry enthuses.
This year’s Health & Wellness area has expanded to include the PrideFit area, which offers exercise activities including yoga, Zumba, kick boxing, Latin dance and belly dance instruction. On Saturday, June 10, the Summerfest Rock ‘N Sole Run and the PrideFest Milwaukee Open Grass Volleyball Tournament will take place near the grounds.
The PrideFest Children’s Area presents a carnival-like atmosphere, with free games, face painting, balloon artists and Drag Story Time. The Stonewall Stage hosts the Milwaukee debut of Freedom To Marry, an award-winning documentary about marriage equality, as well as Q&A sessions with sexuality educators, FBI hate-crime investigators and Randy Rainbow. Thanks to support from UWM and the ACLU of Wisconsin, the History Tent presents a special exhibit about Eldon Murray, one of the LGBTQ community’s founding fathers.
