A former youth pastor in Council Bluffs, Iowa, says he had sex with teenage boys because it was his pastoral duty “to help (the teen) with homosexual urges by praying while he had sexual contact with him.”

But law enforcement has a different view of his actions. Earlier this month, Brent Girouex, 31, was arrested on 60 counts of suspicion of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist, reported The Daily Nonpareil.

In February, Girouex told Council Bluffs police detectives that he had sexual contact with four young men starting in 2007 in order to help them gain “sexual purity in the eyes of God.”

But Pottawattamie County Attorney Matt Wilber told the Nonpareil that at least eight men have come forward with complaints that Girouex molested them.

Court documents indicated Girouex told investigators the most sexual contact he had was with one teen over a four-year period, starting when the boy was 14 years old. Calling the contact “mutual,” he said it had occurred between “25 and 50 times” during that period.

When investigators spoke to the teen, who’s now an adult, he told them the number was between 50 and 100.

Three other young men who were teenagers when the incidents occurred told investigators the sex occurred at Girouex’s home. All said they went to be helped with “sexual purity.”

“When they would ejaculate, they would be getting rid of the evil thoughts in their mind,” Girouex allegedly told detectives.

Wilber said investigators are following leads to see if there are more victims. Girouex is currently free on $30,000 bond.

So he was thinking outside the box?

"Outside the box"...I love the double entendre. He was well outside of any box.

All you holier than though folks acting like you've never had sex with teenage boys are really full of it, you know? Everyone knows sexual contact while praying is the ONLY way to cure the ills of homosexuality and lead a life that makes Jesus proud.

are you serious???.... I really dont care if this comment is supposed to be sarcastic or not, its seriously messed up and wrong... its as if you're advocating what this guy did, seriously re think your phrasing... or better yet, find another way to state your point, this is confusing and messy

I guess he thought having sex with him was so awful that his clients would give up gay sex forever. Pic seems to support that theory.

This is nothing new in the fundamentalist movement, both pastors from The Gospel Tabernacle of Baltimore Maryland had been molesting boys into adulthood for 30 years and got away with it.

The "ex-gay" movement is a fraud. Paid "ex-gay" activists repeating what their anti-gay paymasters want them to say does not equal "changed" sexual orientation. It equals, "I want $$$ and I'll say whatever you want me to say for $$$." When you promote fraud, such as "ex-gay" therapy, you are going to attract evil, sinful participants who are only too happy to stick their hand into the anti-gay money trough. If it were possible to "change" sexual orientation, this man would not be having sexual attraction to other males. Heterosexual men aren't attracted to other males. Why isn't our government doing something about this fraud and investigating it before more lives are destroyed?
