One Million Moms, which raised a ruckus earlier this year over JC Penney hiring openly lesbian TV star Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson, is objecting to the retailer’s new holiday ad.
The commercial features DeGeneres and several elves talking in a diner.
In an email to subscribers, One Million Moms states, “Since April, JC Penney's has not aired Ellen DeGeneres in one of their commercials until now. A new JCP ad features Ellen and three elves. JCP has made their choice to offend a huge majority of their customers again. Christians must now vote with their wallets. We have contacted JC Penney's several times in the past with our concerns, and they will not listen. They have decided to ignore our complaints so we will avoid them at all costs.”
The organization does not actually consist of a million members and has only 51,445 likes on its Facebook page. One Million Moms is affiliated with the far-right, anti-LGBT American Family Association and objects to JC Penney hiring a lesbian spokesperson.
The commercial was posted to YouTube, but not by JC Penney — the retailer's name is spelled incorrectly in the headline and the video was recorded with a FlipCam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvE9EPs-LCo&feature=player_embedded
