Women's March WI endorses Kelda Roys for governor
Women's March Wisconsin has endorsed Kelda Roys for governor of Wisconsin.
A statement said Roys shares "the progressive values of Women's March Wisconsin and has a detailed plan to turn those values into transformative social and economic change for all Wisconsinites."
Roys, said Women's March Wisconsin, started her career fighting for reproductive justice as the executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin. "As the future of reproductive justice is challenged by the current administration, it is clear that Wisconsin needs a champion for choice like Kelda Roys leading our state."
As a former state legislator, WMW said Roys was a "strong advocate for equal rights and economic justice, election and campaign finance reform, quality education for all, affordable health care, environmental conservation, consumer protection and criminal justice reform."
Roys said she is “honored to earn the endorsement of Women’s March Wisconsin. In the wake of President Trump’s inauguration, it was the Women’s March that galvanized Americans across the country by reminding us how powerful we can be when we come together, when we organize, and when we make our voices heard. I welcome their support for our campaign to move Wisconsin forward.”
Women's March Wisconsin, in its endorsement, stated, "Wisconsin needs a leader with an intersectional and holistic approach to creating an equitable Wisconsin, a leader who will fight for all women — women of color, women with disabilities, Native women, Muslim women, immigrant women, lesbian women, queer women, trans women, nonbinary folks, incarcerated women, and poor women — and we are proud to endorse Kelda's campaign for governor of Wisconsin.
