Elton John planning a low-key wedding in England

Elton John and his partner David Furnish are planning a low-profile wedding in May, following a change in British law allowing gay marriages.

The singer told NBC’s Today show that he wants to celebrate “very quietly,” and added: “It will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children.”

The two men, who have been in a civil partnership since 2005, have two children.

In quotes released on NBC’s website on March 31, the singer said: “We shouldn’t just say `Oh, well, we have a civil partnership, we’re not going to bother to get married’. We will get married.”

Same-sex marriages were allowed for the first time in Britain Saturday, when a new marriage law came into effect.

Elton John, David Furnish welcome 2nd son

Elton John and David Furnish have become parents for a second time.

The couple say they are “overwhelmed with happiness” at the birth of Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John.

John’s spokeswoman Fran Curtis confirmed an announcement on the singer’s website that the baby was born on Jan. 11 in Los Angeles. The infant, born to a surrogate mother, weighs 8 pounds, 4 ounces.

John, who is 65, and 50-year-old Furnish wed in a British civil partnership in 2005 and are parents to 2-year-old Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, born in California in December 2010, also through a surrogate mother.

John told The Guardian newspaper last year that he hoped to have a sibling for Zachary because “it’s difficult to be an only child, and to be an only child of someone famous.”

John and Furnish told Hello! magazine that “the birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way.”

Sir Elton John and partner expecting second baby

Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish are expecting their second baby together in 2013 from the same surrogate mother who bore their first.

John, 65, and Furnish, 50, are reportedly expecting a sibling for their son Zachary, who will turn 2 in December.

According to The Sun of London, the surrogate mother is already “several months” pregnant and is due to deliver the baby early next year. Her name is being kept privte.

“Elton and David love this lady like a sister and they feel indebted to her for life,” an unnamed source close to couple the told The Sun. “Naturally she has been well rewarded. But her identity will never be revealed.”

Sir Elton and Furnish have been civil partners under British law since 2005.

Last summer, Sir Elton said in an interview, “I’d love to have more children. I want to have a brother or a sister to go to school with (Zachary), so that he can have someone to play with.”

In an interview with NBC, Sir Elton said, “It’s going to be heartbreaking for (Zachary)  to grow up and realize he hasn’t got a mummy. But he’s so happy. I’ve never seen a more contented child. And you have never seen two more contented people as David and I.”

Elton John to Madonna: ‘Lip-synch good’ at Super Bowl

Reigniting a longstanding cat fight, Sir Elton John offered this piece of advice to Madonna on “Good Morning America” concerning her upcoming halftime show at the Super Bowl: “Make sure you lip-synch good,” he advised.

Those hissing words come not long after the dueling divas reconciled publicly following a publicized rift. John’s husband David Furnish blasted the Material Girl on Facebook for winning Best Original Song at the Golden Globes, beating out John for the honor.

Madonna won for her song “Masterpiece” from her directorial debut film “W.E.” John was nominated for a song from the animated film “Gnomeo and Juliet.”

“Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!” Furnish wrote following the announcement.

“Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit,” Furnish added. “Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”

Madonna also has a longstanding feud with Lady Gaga, John’s friend. She recently let it be known among the glitterati that she would not attend any Oscar party to which Gaga is on the invited list.

The hostilities between Gaga and Madonna came to light after Madge dissed Gaga’s track “Born This Way” as “reductive” and “a wonderful way to redo” her song “Express Yourself.”

Gaga has refused to show her claws publicly, choosing to remain above the fray. But her pals John and Furnish quickly jumped into the battle as her volunteer surrogates and struck back verbally at the notoriously difficult Madonna.

In addition to trashing Madonna during his appearance on “Good Morning America,” John also revealed that he’ll be rooting for the New England Patriots on Feb. 5.

“You can’t watch sports without being passionate,” Sir Elton said. “Oh, yeah, I scream at the television.”

John will be heard during the broadcast of the event as a pitchman for Pepsi in a commercial to be broadcast during the Super Bowl.

Would he ever appear as halftime entertainment?

No, John said. “I’ve never seen a decent one. Never ever.”

Elton John and husband David Furnish rip Madonna over Golden Globe

Elton John and his husband David Furnish unsheathed their claws last night about Madonna’s Golden Globe appearance. The Material Girl scored a statue for Best Song, beating out John and Mary J. Blige.

Furnish tweeted: “Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!…Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”

Earlier, on the red carpet, John had given an interview to Carson Daly in which he said, “Madonna hasn’t got a f**king chance.”

Daly responded, “Those are fighting words.”

“They’re accurate words,” John replied.

But Madonna’s song “Masterpiece,” which she co-wrote for her movie “W.E.,” beat out John’s “Hello Hello” from “Gnomeo and Juliet” and Mary J. Blige’s “The Living Proof” from “The Help.”

Madonna also raised eyebrows with her sarcastic response to host Ricky Gervais, who joked that she remains like a virgin in introducing her.

“If I’m still just like a virgin, Ricky, then why don’t you come over here and do something about it,” she said. “I haven’t kissed a girl in a few years. On TV.”

Baby pic

A current cover of Us Weekly featuring a photo of Elton John and his husband David Furnish with their new baby Zachary set off a controversy in the Bible Belt. After receiving complaints about the cover, a Harps supermarket in Mountain View, Ark., blocked it from view with a “family shield” – a piece of plastic bearing the words, “To protect young Harps shoppers.” Zachary, the couple’s first child, was born via a surrogate on Christmas Day.
