Reigniting a longstanding cat fight, Sir Elton John offered this piece of advice to Madonna on “Good Morning America” concerning her upcoming halftime show at the Super Bowl: “Make sure you lip-synch good,” he advised.
Those hissing words come not long after the dueling divas reconciled publicly following a publicized rift. John’s husband David Furnish blasted the Material Girl on Facebook for winning Best Original Song at the Golden Globes, beating out John for the honor.
Madonna won for her song “Masterpiece” from her directorial debut film “W.E.” John was nominated for a song from the animated film “Gnomeo and Juliet.”
“Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!” Furnish wrote following the announcement.
“Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit,” Furnish added. “Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”
Madonna also has a longstanding feud with Lady Gaga, John’s friend. She recently let it be known among the glitterati that she would not attend any Oscar party to which Gaga is on the invited list.
The hostilities between Gaga and Madonna came to light after Madge dissed Gaga’s track “Born This Way” as “reductive” and “a wonderful way to redo” her song “Express Yourself.”
Gaga has refused to show her claws publicly, choosing to remain above the fray. But her pals John and Furnish quickly jumped into the battle as her volunteer surrogates and struck back verbally at the notoriously difficult Madonna.
In addition to trashing Madonna during his appearance on “Good Morning America,” John also revealed that he’ll be rooting for the New England Patriots on Feb. 5.
“You can’t watch sports without being passionate,” Sir Elton said. “Oh, yeah, I scream at the television.”
John will be heard during the broadcast of the event as a pitchman for Pepsi in a commercial to be broadcast during the Super Bowl.
Would he ever appear as halftime entertainment?
No, John said. “I’ve never seen a decent one. Never ever.”
