Sprecher Brewery celebrates the release of its single-batch bourbon barrel-aged Belgian Dubbel
On April 29, Sprecher Walker’s Point Taproom hosts the exclusive release party for Sprecher Brewing Company's Night Demon beer, a smooth and complex bourbon barrel-aged Belgian Dubbel. This specific style of beer hasn't been attempted by a Milwaukee brewery in recent history.
Night Demon is made with five malts, flaked oats, wheat, dark Belgian candi sugar and a hops blend. The beer is aged for eight weeks prior to resting for one year in oak bourbon barrels.
Night Demon is a single batch release packaged in one-liter flip-top bottles that Sprecher Brewery suggests cellaring for a few of years before tasting.
“Designed to age well, it will reveal new layers, new flavors over time,” stated Anne Sprecher, communications director for Sprecher Brewery, in a press release.
Night Demon is heavily layered with flavors including cola, deep cherries, sweet berries, caramels, interlaced oaky and bourbon notes. In a statement by the brewery, the beer is likened to drinking a cognac
Bottles of Night Demon will not be available at the brewery and can only be purchased at the taproom release party. The beer has been limited to only 100 one-liter bottles (10 percent alcohol by volume). Bottles run for $20 each and are limited to three per person.
The Night Demon release party will kickoff at 9 a.m. and will run until the beer sells out. Sprecher Walker’s Point Taproom is located at 706 S. 5th St., Milwaukee.
