Nevada Republicans: Brothels more popular than gay marriage

Public Policy Polling reports that its survey of Nevada voters finds that Republicans and Democrats agree on one thing: yes to the legalization of brothels.

The PPP survey found that, overall, 64 percent of voters think brothels should be legal. The survey also found that Democrats and Republicans are equally supportive – 66 percent – on the point.

The same can’t be said about gay marriage. In Nevada, only 20 percent of Republican voters support legalizing same-sex marriage.

Other recent survey findings:

• 58 percent have a favorable view of Reno and 53 percent have a favorable view of Las Vegas. Reno has the edge because Republicans like it better.

• 54 percent of Nevada pet owners say they’d trust their animals to former Sen. John Ensign, who want back to being a vet. His approval rating as a vet is almost a reversal of his approval rating – 29/55 – when he left the Senate.

• 23 percent of Nevada voters believe in UFOs; 56 percent do not.

• 56 percent of voters don’t know enough about Las Vegas businessman Sheldon Adelson, a major donor to the Republican Party, to have an opinion of him.

• More than 40 percent of voters also don’t know enough about Vegas magnate Steve Wynn to have an opinion of him.
