My Choice Family Care appoints Dr. Joseph O'Grady Jr to Medical Director

Dr. Joseph O’Grady Jr. has been named Medical Director of My Choice Family Care, a care organization that helps seniors and adults with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities live more active and independent lives.

As Medical Director, Dr. O’Grady’s responsibilities will include providing leadership, oversight, and direction in the areas of health care services, quality measures of clinical outcomes and performance, health care information, clinical practice guidelines, health care provider relations and clinical supervision.

“We are fortunate to have found someone with Dr. O’Grady’s experience to serve as our Medical Director,” said Maria Ledger, CEO of My Choice Family Care, in a press release. “His dedication to the members we serve, as well as his experience and compassion, make him a great fit for our organization.”

Dr. O’Grady is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he has served for 25 years. He also is the Patient Safety and Quality Officer for the MCW Department of Psychiatry.

“My role at My Choice Family Care will be focused on supporting the nurses and social workers regarding members who have complex psychiatric and medical needs, and ensuring members get quality care,” said Dr. O’Grady in a press release. “We’re helping people to live meaningful lives in the community and ensuring they have the support to do that. It’s about quality of life and about being good stewards of the financial supports provided by entitlement programs.”

Dr. O’Grady added that he wanted to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, equity, timeliness, patient safety and person-centered care when providing services to members.

Listed in Best Doctors in America for 10 years, most recently in 2017–18, Dr. O’Grady is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and has received a Special Achievement Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
