Major progressive groups will conduct a “Healthcare Jeopardy” event Jan. 27 with a panel of Democratic candidates for governor.

Confirmed candidates include Andy Gronik, Bob Harlow, Dana Wachs, Kelda Roys, Mahlon Mitchell, Matt Flynn, Michele Doolan, Mike McCabe, Ramona Whitaker, Tony Evers.

With polls showing that healthcare is the top issue for voters in 2018, how the candidates stack up on the issue will play a major role in who in the crowded primary field will be nominated to face-off against Republican Gov. Scott Walker in November.

The lead sponsors are Citizen Action of Wisconsin and Wisconsin’s Choice, which is a joint project of Wisconsin Working Families Party and Our Wisconsin Revolution.

The event also is sponsored by Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals and AFT Local 212.

Democrats vying for governor will answer questions in a gameshow format from healthcare professionals and consumers about what they will do to expand health coverage, lower prices and improve healthcare outcomes in Wisconsin.

This event comes on the heels of Gov. Scott Walker’s State of the State where he outlined his plan to give $200 million in subsidies to insurance corporations in the hopes that they will pass their savings down to consumers.

Democrats have largely been critical of this plan, saying it is too little, too late.
