We the People

Wisconsin United to Amend will hold an “Unhappy Birthday Party for Citizens United” at three locations in Wisconsin.

“It's been eight years since the elitist Supreme Court sided with billionaires and corporate fat cats and damaged our democratic republic,” said Wisconsin United to Amend, in a prepared statement. “Now the American dream is slipping away. There are many issues we need to address, but money in politics is THE core issue. Money talks and the rest of us have no say. To overturn Citizens United, we need a Constitutional amendment which clarifies that only real people have constitutional rights and money is not the same thing as speech.”

The events take place Jan. 21 at three locations:

Appleton — Copper Rock Coffee Company, 210 W. College Ave., Appleton, from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The event features Mike McCabe, former executive director of WI Democracy Campaign, as well as representatives from Appleton United To Amend and Green Bay United To Amend.
