Laughing Liberally Milwaukee, a monthly progressive political comedy show featuring some of Milwaukee’s top liberal and progressive comedians, will hold its next show Saturday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. at the Comedy Sportz Theater, 420 S. 1st St., Milwaukee.
Laughing Liberally Milwaukee is the local chapter of Laughing Liberally, a national organization of progressive comedians who use humor and laughter to spread understanding of liberal ideas and advance progressive values.
Laughing Liberally Milwaukee is hosted by comedian, satirist and progressive talk radio host Matthew Filipowicz. Filipowicz’s work has been featured on CNN, NPR, PBS, HBO, BBC, Ain’t It Cool News, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Atlantic, the Nation, the London Times, RT TV and countless sites in the progressive blogosphere including Salon, Daily Kos and the Huffington Post.
Comedians on the Oct. 21 bill include Ton Johnson, Marisa Lange, Erik Koconis, Stevie Leigh Crutcher, Deon Green and sketch comedy group The Accountants of Homeland Security.
In addition to Milwaukee progressive comedians, each Laughing Liberally Milwaukee features a special interview with a local activist, journalist, or political figure. October’s guest is Lisa Graves, executive director at the Center for Media and Democracy, a nationally-recognized watchdog group that leads in-depth investigations into the corruption that undermines our democracy, environment, and economic prosperity.
