Actor and advocate Shailene Woodley joined Greenpeace aboard the Esperanza to sail to the Sargasso Sea, in the heart of the Bermuda Triangle. The Sargasso Sea is a vast ecosystem with abundant life that faces many threats, including plastic pollution. The mission was to show why the Sargasso Sea must be protected under the Global Oceans Treaty.

An ocean lover all of her life, Shailene considers the platform she has to be a gift in her life and she hopes to use it to share information, knowledge, and wisdom. “You don’t have to be on a Greenpeace boat to make a huge difference for this planet. The power really does lie in our own hands, and it lies in holding corporations and our government accountable for the change that we want to make within our communities,” she said.
