Facebook, once a fun and engaging way to keep in touch with family and friends, has grown OUT OF CONTROL. Every day there’s a new scandal - its overreaching into our democracies, enabling far right groups to organize hate crime and selling our data to the highest bidder. Facebook has the power to undermine society, so what can be done? Mark Zuckerberg needs to be held responsible, and right now neither the government or the company are doing it.

With the support of SumOfUs members, we crashed the Facebook annual shareholder meeting with a giant “angry emoji” and brought in Arielle Cohen, whose life was impacted by the Tree of Life synagogue massacre, to present a proposal directly to Zuckerberg and the board: vote no to Zuckerberg’s continued control of Facebook; vote for an independent board chair, and vote for breaking up facebook’s companies.
