Gentle donkeys are slaughtered in Kenya so that their skins can be exported to China in order to feed the country s growing demand for ejiao, a medicinal gelatin created from boiled down donkey skins. Workers were documented violently beating frightened donkeys, as well as dumping, dragging, and kicking one donkey who was too injured to stand.

This is sick. Must humans abuse every animal in every country? Acupuncturists should help stop this suffering and save donkeys skins, simply by not using ejiao.

Unacceptable. There s no evidence to substantiate ejiao s purported benefits, and certainly none that could excuse such blatant cruelty.

This is shocking. Donkeys should be respected, like all living beings. Not killed and sold as commodity.

I truly hope that Kenyan authorities ban this disgustingly violent industry. We can all do our part to help donkeys by avoiding any products that contains gelatin.

So much suffering for a dubious "product" that no one needs. Kenya must step up and ban this, and kind people should check labels and leave anything containing ejiao on the shelf.
