Singer-songwriter Amanda Huff has been recognized for her work with local act Strangelander and electronic producer Thane. Now she’s turning heads with her solo debut album Hemiptera, which was released earlier this year. The album shows off Huff’s powerful voice, giving fans the chance to hear her at the forefront. Riding high on the album’s success, Huff is debuting a music video filmed last summer by local filmmaker Kristin Peterson. While she has been performing solo sets recently, her performance at Company Brewing will feature Strangelander as her backing band.

Madison’s garage-pop outfit Proud Parents has released an eponymous debut album via Dirtnap Records and will celebrate the occasion with a show at Quarters, along with label-mate Fox Face. Proud Parents marks the first time that Dirtnap has released a record from a Madison band since relocating to the capital. The band’s jangle-pop melodies and garage-rock rawness have garnered quite the following there. Now Proud Parents is ready to take on the rest of the country in support of their debut album.

Joshua Jenkins — otherwise known as one-third of the hip-hop trio ADHD — is releasing his sophomore album Lionh3arted on July 23. Jenkins spends what time he hasn’t set aside for music participating in community-outreach events. He works as the District 4 Youth Organizer for Safe & Sound Inc. The young rapper incorporates his experiences working with underprivileged communities into his music, which he says "does not shy away from prominent issues in society.”

After the dust has settled from the 24 hour-long bike race, join WMSE 91.7 and a lineup of local acts at Company Brewing to celebrate — if you’re still able to stand, that is. For the fourth year in a row, the after party will feature a special batch of Smash Ale. The product is a partnership between a WMSE DJ and a Company Brewing brewmaster, the ale is a summertime-appropriate fusion of Wisconsin ingredients. For every beer sold, $1 goes toward supporting WMSE.

Brady Street Festival

Welcome to summertime in Milwaukee, where large-scale outdoor events coincide with one another because there’s just too much to do while the weather is warm. With the Riverwest 24 in full swing and around the halfway mark, Brady Street Festival will kick off at 11 a.m. Featuring four stages packed with lineups of local faves, the street festival features a day’s worth of live music, ending at midnight. The festival also will feature the Division BMX team, The Milwaukee Flyers, GLWC Casablanca Rumble VII Pro Wrestling Matches and the Adventure Rock Climbing Wall.
