Weird Al Yankovic

7 p.m. April 9 at The Backroom @ Colectivo; $39.50 to $65.50; etix.com

Weird Al Yankovic will perform original songs rather than parodies as part of his “The Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour.” For these performances, Yankovic abandons his big-production approach and is allowing fans to get up-close and personal for a stripped-down performance. Yankovich’s recent album Mandatory Fun was the first comedy album in history to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.

Ty Segall featuring Solid Freex and The Bed Band

8 p.m. April 9 at Mad Planet; $25; mad-planet.net

Due to popular demand, this show has been moved from the Cactus Club to Mad Planet. So expect this to be a crowded one. Ty Segall is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter known for his solo career that boasts 10 studio albums alongside various EPs and singles. His latest album, Freedom’s Goblin, was released in January. For the record, Segall chose not to restrict his music, resulting in varied aesthetic and his longest album to date.

The Darkness featuring Diarrhea Planet

The band first created waves on the music scene in 2003 with its single “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” which showcased vocalist Justin Hawkins’ Freddy Mercury-esque pipes. The band’s latest album, Pinewood Smile, was released in October 2017 to critical acclaim, proving The Darkness has still got it, even after some mid-career hiccups.

Drink specials and new Rio Turbo merchandise also will be available.
