The program will include classic works, world previews and Milwaukee premieres. In addition to two public performances, the Wilson Center and TIDC are collaborating in an arts education outreach programming at Milwaukee Public School’s Trowbridge Street School of Great Lakes Studies. TIDC company dancers will lead two Irish dance workshops for fourth and fifth grade students on Sept. 26.
“We are driven by the power of dance to change lives, and to celebrate Irish dance through a performing arts lens,” stated TIDC Founding Artistic Director Mark Howard in a press release. “The company is grateful to have the opportunity to do so at home.”
The TIDC is based out of Milwaukee and Chicago and has been recognized by the New York Times and The Boston Globe as a women-empowering performance group. The company is comprised of dancers from all over North America, including five from Milwaukee. The group’s performance comes shortly after it returned from a three-week tour of Japan.
“The Wilson Center reminds us of some of the beautiful theaters in Japan — it’s a gorgeous and intimate theater,” stated Howard in a press release. “These tickets will sell quickly!”
TIDC will perform at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts on Sept. 28–29. Tickets are $39–$72 and can be purchased over the phone at 262-781-9520, online at wilscon-center.com, or in person at the Wilson Center Box Office. Discounts are available to groups of 10 or more.
