EATING RULES This month is “October Unprocessed,” when we’re encouraged to cut processed foods for the betterment of our health, the environment and our budgets. In the challenge, “unprocessed food” is any food that could be made by a person with reasonable skill in a home kitchen with whole-food ingredients. Put another way: If you pick up something with a label and find an ingredient you’d never use in your kitchen and possibly couldn’t, it’s processed. Food activist Andrew Wilder started October Unprocessed in 2009. The challenge is sponsored by Bob’s Red Mill. Connect: eatingrules.com
