The Madison Symphony Orchestra’s Bolz Young Artist Competition comes to its conclusion with this final competition on the Overture Hall Stage. The statewide challenge pits student musicians against each other in a series of preliminary rounds, with the best of the best making their way to the finals, where they’ll perform with guest conductor James Smith and the MSO. This season’s finalists — violinsts David Cao and Bethany Moss, pianist Bobby Levinger and marimba player Ephraim Sutherland — are all greatly talented, but only one can walk out of the hall as the winner. At 201 State St., Madison. Entry is free, but reservations are required at 608-257-3734 or by emailing . The competition will also be aired live on Wisconsin Public Television and Wisconsin Public Radio.

6:45 p.m. on Wed., March 26
