Wisconsin grassroots groups to hold water safety event Feb. 8 in Madison

Sustain Rural Wisconsin Network, a Wisconsin coalition of grassroots groups fighting to keep water safe from concentrated animal feeding operations, is planning a Citizens’ Water Lobby Day in Madison on Feb. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 412E (the Joint Committee on Finance room) at the State Capital.

Wisconsin grassroots groups and individuals will join forces to demand responsible water policy. Coalition members intend to engage with elected officials until there is absolute certainty that Wisconsin’s water is protected from various forms of pollution. Water is the common ground among the frac sand, mining, pipelines, high capacity wells, and CAFO grassroots groups in Wisconsin.

The Concerned Rome Citizen’s group in the Central Sands region of Wisconsin has provided a donation to pay for six charter buses to get citizens from around Wisconsin to Madison for the event. Reservations are required for a seat on one of the buses.
