Zipcar adds three new locations near UW-Milwaukee

Car-sharing network Zipcar has expanded its presence surrounding the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to meet the demands of the new school year. Six new vehicles in three new locations are now available, bringing Zipcar’s total fleet near UWM to 14 Zipcars.

Zipcar provides automobile reservations to its members, billable by the hour or day. To use the Zipcar service, the driver first must apply in the Zipcar app or online. Once approved, the driver is sent a Zipcard to access vehicles. A vehicle can be booked for as little as one hour or as long as seven days.

New locations include:

• 3019 North Frederick Ave. (surface lot)
• 2864 North Cramer St. (surface lot)
• Kenwood United Methodist Church, 2319 E Kenwood Blvd. (surface lot)

Cars can be reserved around the clock for students, faculty, and staff ages 18 and older, as well as members of the local community ages 21 and over. Members can join and make reservations instantly on the mobile app.

UW-Milwaukee students can join for $15, with rates for Zipcar vehicles near campus starting as low as $7.50 per hour and $69 per day, including gas, insurance and maintenance. Members of the local community can join for $7 per month or $70 per year.

Zipcar first brought its car-sharing service to Milwaukee in August 2013. Demand has since grown, calling for more vehicles in more locations near campus and around Milwaukee. A total of 44 vehicles are available throughout Milwaukee.
