The first Milwaukee Women's Film Festival showcases local and worldwide films that celebrate women in film, including shorts featuring members of the LGBT community and one about transgender women in Turkey. The opening night party of the three-day festival features the film The Ultimate No-Show, shot on an iPhone 6, as well as the short Final Statement. Both filmmakers will be present for a Q&A afterwards. Other opening night highlights include a performance by Milwaukee hip-hop group Boom Boom Klap, and the virtual reality immersion experience “Across The Line,” which puts viewers in the shoes of a patient trying to enter a health center to obtain a safe and legal abortion.
