Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church welcomed the Rev. Tory V. Topjian as its new senior pastor. Topjian comes to Milwaukee MCC as the former associate pastor at Founders Metropolitan Community Church in Los Angeles, Calif., the founding church of the MCC denomination.
Topjian has been active on a range of issues in the LGBT community, including living with HIV/AIDS in Middle Eastern cultures and marriage equality for same-sex couples. He recently served on the board for the Los Angeles Interfaith Advisory Council, bringing knowledge and education of social justice around various LGBTQI interfaith issues.
Topjian holds a master of divinity degree from Claremont School of Theology, focusing on interreligious studies and various trends in worship within interfaith communities. He also has a master’s certification as an executive chef from the Culinary Institute of America.
