Judge to hear youths’ climate change lawsuit
Seven young Washingtonians have sued the state, demanding the Department of Ecology set science-based carbon pollution limits.
A judge will hear oral arguments in the case on Nov. 3. in Seattle.
The young petitioners, who have twice called on the state department to act, argue that more delay in resolving their legal claims will result in irreversible infringement on their right to a livable world.
The petitioners are represented by Andrea Rodgers of the Western Environmental Law Center in partnership with Our Children’s Trust of Oregon.
