Irish Fest

Matthew Reddin, Contributing writer

They say everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, and the same is true when Irish Fest rolls around. The annual celebration of Irish culture takes over the Summerfest grounds with a mix of musical guests, including perennial visitors Gaelic Storm, performances by the Trinity Irish step dancers, cultural displays and discussions, and the annual Sunday Mass. New to the festival this year is a millennial celebration of Brian Boru, the first modern ruler of Ireland, who unified the island’s clans before dying at the Battle of Clontarf 1,000 years ago.

Admission to the festival is $17, $12 for seniors and free for children, with $5 tickets on Thursday and additional discounts throughout the weekend. For more, click irishfest.com.
