Unruly Music

As spring slowly arrives, so does Unruly Music, the biannual new music festival sponsored by UWM’s Peck School of the Arts. The three nights offer three totally different experiences. Thursday is slightly traditional, with the legendary Twin Cities quartet Zeitgeist performing works developed for them by UWM students and faculty. Friday brings new commissions as well, including works by Wisconsin composers Jeff Herriott and Kevin Schlei, performed on saxophone and percussion by Bent Frequency Duo. Saturday takes a left turn into the land of avant-garde oboist Kyle Bruckman and his ensemble Wrack, which performs the “free jazz phantasmagoria,” Awaits Silent Tristero’s Empire, inspired by the works of Thomas Pynchon. At UWM Music Recital Hall, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd., Milwaukee. Tickets are $10, $5 for students and free for music majors. To order, call 414-229-4308.

7:30 p.m. from Thurs., March 27, to Sat., March 29
