Billy Graham runs anti-gay ad in Washington
Evangelist Billy Graham took out an ad in a small weekly newspaper asking voters to “vote for Biblical values” in Tuesday’s election.
In the ad in the Thursday edition of the Edmonds Beacon newspaper, Graham urges voters to support candidates who “protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman.”
Graham doesn’t make a direct reference to Referendum 74, which asks Washington state voters to either approve or reject a new law passed earlier this year that allows gay marriage in the state. That law is on hold pending Tuesday’s vote.
The ad has appeared in newspapers around the country over the past few weeks, including the Wall Street Journal and USA Today, according to a spokesman for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
