Larry Flynt, Hustler offer $1 million for Romney financials

Hustler magazine and publisher Larry Flynt are offering $1 million to someone who can bare Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s financials.

The offer was announced in full-page ads in major U.S. newspaper. An ad ran in the Washington Post on Sept. 9. Another is set to run in USA Today on Sept. 11. The ad announces that Flynt and his publication, known for its sexually explicit content, are “offering up to a million dollars in cash for documented evidence concerning Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's unreleased tax returns and/or details of his offshore assets, bank accounts and business partnerships,” according to a news release.

Romney has resisted repeated calls that he release more than what he has provided to voters – tax returns for 2010 and an estimate for 2011.

At larryflynt.com, a question over a copy of the ad says, “What is he hiding?”

Meanwhile, federal authorities are said to be investigating claims that Romney’s tax returns were stolen in a burglary. The anonymous claim is that the PricewaterhouseCoopers accounting office in Franklin, Tenn., was burglarized or hacked and two decades' worth of Romney's tax returns were stolen.

However, the accounting office maintains that nothing is missing.
