Keith Haring art collection available as fine prints

WiG

The Keith Haring Foundation has partnered with Art.com to produce a major collection of more than 60 Keith Haring works as fine art prints.

The openly gay artist achieved fame in the early 1980s in the emerging alternative art scene in New York City. His work is quickly identifiable, with its vivid colors, strong lines, iconic visual vocabulary and activist-styled statements.

Haring, said a release, established his philanthropic legacy to cultivate arts with children and support those living with HIV/AIDS before he died of AIDS-related illness in 1990.

“Keith Haring’s art is imaginative, bold and forward-thinking, and we’re thrilled to launch an entire collection that presents some of his most brilliant pieces,” said Art.com CEO Geoffroy Martin. “By exposing a new, larger audience to Haring’s work, we hope art lovers are inspired by his themes of social activism and distinct perspective on the world.”

The collection announced this past week includes a video that Haring produced while he was studying at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. “Painting Myself into a Corner,” shows the artist at work in an illustrative way – literally painting himself into a corner.

The collection also includes a series of self-portrait Polaroid photos with Haring quotes.

The foundation said the collection is true to Haring’s belief that art should be accessible to everyone.
