ND newspaper mulls same-sex wedding announcements
North Dakota’s largest newspaper is reviewing its policy on same-sex wedding announcements in response to a controversy that arose online.
The Forum reports it received multiple negative comments on its official Facebook page and an online petition was started after it refused to print a Fargo couple’s same-sex wedding announcement.
Forum Editor Matthew Von Pinnon says the newspaper’s rule is being reviewed.
Marriage in North Dakota is defined under state law as “between one man and one woman.”
The newspaper’s parent company, Forum Communications Co., also owns the Grand Forks Herald, The Jamestown Sun and The Dickinson Press in North Dakota.
