Milwaukee roller derby rolls into third bout

Milwaukee’s hometown roller derby league, the Brewcity Bruisers, will play its third bout of the season at 7 p.m. March 10 at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

In February, the league’s four teams battled in front of more than 3,300 fans – a Brewcity Bruisers attendance record – and the action only promises to become even more intense over the coming months.

The Brewcity Bruisers March event will feature the Rushin’ Rollettes vs. the Shevil Knevils and Maiden Milwaukee vs. the Crazy 8’s.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the first bout begins at 7 p.m.

The U.S. Cellular Arena is located 400 W. Kilbourn Ave., Milwaukee.

Adult tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.

Tickets for kids 12 and under are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

Children under 5 receive free admission.

Fans can save money on derby tickets by bringing summer camp supplies – sunscreen, bug spray and batteries – to be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Each donation is worth $3 off one regular priced ticket at the door.

MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.

Only one $3 discount will be given per ticket purchase.

After the derby, the Bruisers and fans will go to Turner Hall Ballroom, 1032 N. Fourth St., Milwaukee, for a party.

Brewcity Bruisers bouts also will take place April 14 and May 5.

The derby is all-female, flat-track and skater-operated.
