Petitioning: Campaign seeks changes in anti-bullying policy in Chicago
More than 15,000 people have signed a Change.org petition calling on Chicago Public Schools administrators to revise the system’s anti-bullying policy.
The petitioners are responding to a video posted online that shows seven youth assaulting another young person.
Outside what appears to be a school building, the teenagers punch, kick, drag and throw their victim.
Timothy Hwang of the National Youth Association, launched the petition drive.
“This video shows an extreme example of a young person being senselessly attacked,” Hwang said. “Actions needs to be taken to ensure that incidents like this don’t happen again. Young people who engage in this type of bullying and violence need to learn about the impact their actions have on others.”
