Tim Pawlenty showered with pink glitter by pro-gay activists

Anti-gay GOP presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty was doused with glittery pink confetti yesterday while signing books in San Francisco.

Two women representing the group CODEPINK opened manila folders containing the confetti and showered it over the former Minnesota governor as he sat at a greeting table.

One of the women repeatedly blasted Pawlenty for lacking “the courage to stand up for gay rights and women’s reproductive rights.”

Invoking the memory of Harvey Milk, she added, “Welcome to San Francisco.”

As governor of Minnesota, Pawlenty vetoed a bill that would have given gay couples the right to the remains of their deceased partners and granted them the right to sue in wrongful death cases.

“I oppose efforts to treat domestic relationships as the equivalent of traditional marriage. Accordingly, I am opposed to this bill,” Pawlenty said at the time of his veto.

The bland Pawlenty is considered a long shot to win the Republican presidential nomination. Although a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll showed him gaining in name recognition, voters remain uninspired by him.

Pawlenty’s confetti shower follows a similar incident in Minneapolis that left Newt Gingrich shimmering with glitter.
