Indy LGBT group drops lawsuit

An Indiana group that provides programs for LGBT teenagers dropped a federal lawsuit against the state over its refusal to issue it a specialty license plate.

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles says in the settlement agreement that it’s highly likely the Indiana Youth Group will be approved if it applies again.

The bureau says the group was rejected because it didn’t make it clear that money from plates wouldn’t go to administrative costs. As long as the group’s application makes it clear that won’t be the case, the agreement says it will likely be approved.

The group had accused the bureau of using arbitrary standards in deciding which groups could use the fundraising plates.
