In recent TV ads that aired in the Milwaukee market (watch it on youtube), a Republican U.S. Senate candidate says he’d outlaw homosexuality, if elected.

“I’m a born-again Christian, a U.S. veteran and a very conservative Republican,” Ernest J. Pagels Jr. says in the commercial. “If elected, I will initiate a bill to outlaw homosexuality, abortion and all forms of pornography. I think these are three ills that are plaguing our nation and bringing us down.”

Pagels, who’s running in the Republican primary, is unlikely to clinch the nomination. Oshkosh businessman Ron Johnson, who also opposes LGBT equality, is heavily favored in polls to win the chance to take on Democratic incumbent Russ Feingold.

Pagels was cited for disorderly conduct in February after witnesses reported him urinating on a car tire in a parking lot at Waukesha County Technical College. He sued the college for violating his civil rights, but the case was dismissed.
