Wisconsin Democratic Party staffer Graeme Zielinski is out as spokesman after he sent a tweet comparing Republican Gov. Scott Walker to serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that party leaders also docked Zielinski a week’s pay – a little more than $1,000 – for remarks on Twitter.
The remarks were prompted by news that a John Doe criminal investigation in Milwaukee had ended with the prosecution of Walker associates and ex-Walker aides but no charges against the governor.
“@GovWalker had better lawyers than Jeffrey Dahmer in beating the rap. Clear that he committed crimes,” Zielinski tweeted in one of a number of posts tht the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel captured in a screenshot.
The newspaper said Zielinski removed the tweets and apologized to the governor and to the relatives of Dahmer’s victims.
