Former Trek Bicycle executive Mary Burke has raised about $1.79 million since declaring her candidacy for governor less than three months before the year-end reporting deadline.

Burke is running as a Democrat for the governorship, which is now held by conservative Republican Scott Walker.

A news release said her year-end report will show:

• More than 5,600 individual contributors made nearly 6,500 contributions.

• Burke received contributions from each of Wisconsin’s 72 counties.

• 88 percent of contributions were $100 or less.

• 82 percent of contributions are from Wisconsin residents.

• The campaign has more than $1.3 million cash on hand as the new year begins — and with about 300 days until Election Day.

Burke for Wisconsin campaign manager Maggie Brickerman said in a statement, "Wisconsin is ready for new leadership and voters across the state are responding enthusiastically to Mary’s common sense approach that puts problem solving ahead of politics. We couldn’t be happier with the level of support Mary has received out of the gate and are confident that we will have the resources necessary to clearly lay out for the people of Wisconsin the choice, and the stakes, in this election.”

Burke launched her campaign — her first statewide run — in October.
