Local author to read from new book about Hollywood's 'Golden Age'
Book contains 75 original interviews with cinematic icons
David Fantle, co-author of Hollywood Heyday: 75 Interviews with Golden Age Legends, will sign and read from the new book at 7 p.m. on June 7 at the Milwaukee Jewish Community Center,6255 N Santa Monica Blvd. in Whitefish Bay.
Fantle, an adjunct professor in film and pop culture at Marquette University, co-wrote the book with his longtime collaborator Tom Johnson. The latter was a senior editor at Netflix and has written movie reviews and features for E! Online, and People magazine, among other publications.
The reading is a partnership with Boswell Books, 2559 N Downer Ave. in Milwaukee.
Hollywood Heyday is scheduled for release in May.
The new book is “a memoir of a 40-year journey full of received wisdom, unique insights and rare anecdotes as well as candid photos of iconic artists who defined popular culture in America,” according to a press release announcing the reading.
All of the profiles in the book are from in-person meetings that took place in Los Angeles, New York City and London.
