An openly gay Democratic candidate for the Kansas Legislature said he received a death threat containing anti-gay slurs.

Dan Manning of Wichita said someone left a note at his front door containing cut-out words and letters that spelled “Kill” and “Will die.”

The incident is under investigation by the Wichita police department.

Manning, in the Nov. 2 election, faces Republican incumbent Brenda Landwehr, who condemned the threat against her opponent
