Diverse and Resilient celebrates its 15th anniversary with a reception and dinner on Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Peck Welcome Center at the Milwaukee County Zoo, 10001 W. Blue Mound Road.

The dinner will honor Lynde Uihlein, president of Brico Fund, LLC, for her significant contributions to LGBT communities across Wisconsin.

Diverse and Resilient provides about $195,000 for health promotion to LGBT groups in Appleton, Eau Claire, La Crosse, Madison and Milwaukee. The organization focuses on intimate partner violence, tobacco cessation, alcohol abuse prevention, HIV prevention and aging.

Diverse and Resilient also hosts several Milwaukee-area programs, including the African American Men’s Leadership project, SHEBA (Sisters Helping Each other Battle AIDS) and the Lesbian and Bisexual Women’s Leadership Initiative. The agency’s centerpiece program for youth is its biennial Youth Health Institute, a four-day leadership development workshop for LGBT teens and their adult allies with an emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion.

Event sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information about the agency’s anniversary celebration go to www.diverseandresilient.org/anniversary, or call 414-390-0444.
