VisitDenmark is celebrating the “open” in “Copenhagen” with a campaign courting LGBT tourists.
Earlier this summer, the tourism agency launched “cOPENhagen — Open For Everyone” to highlight the welcoming and diverse atmosphere of Denmark’s capital.
The launch included the debut of an LGBT tourism micro-website – www.visitgaydenmark.com – as well as Facebook, Twitter and blog features focused on a one-square mile area of the city that’s considered one of the world’s top LGBT destinations.
Denmark is home to the earliest of modern LGBT organizations – the National Association for Gays and Lesbians formed there in 1948.
Denmark, in 1989, became the first country in the world to legalize marriage for gays and lesbians.
