Off the Wall Theatre announces reimagining of Shakespeare's 'The Taming of the Shrew'
The play will run Sept. 26–30 and Oct. 4–7
Off the Wall Theatre is reimagining a Shakespeare classic. Director Dale Gutzman will adapt The Taming of the Shrew to a more contemporary social climate. The play has often been at the center of discussions on misogyny. Gutzman will examine the play — which has often been the center of discussions on misogyny — from a new perspective, noting that the play is as important and accessible as ever.
While the full details on how Gutzman will reimagine the play, the director has hinted that the production will make use of the music of The Smiths to carry the plot.
The Taming of the Shrew will star Jake Russell as Petruchio and Alicia Rice as Kateor. The play will run Sept. 26–30 and Oct. 4–7 at Off the Wall Theatre, 127 E. Wells St. Tickets can be purchased for $25 by calling 414-484-8874 or by visiting offthewalltheatre.com.
