Actor Jim Carrey provides political commentary with bizarre paintings
What has Jim Carrey been up to?
We haven’t seen a huge starring role in a major film from Carrey in a while, but the Dumb and Dumber actor has been keeping himself busy with painting.
Carrey has turned his personal Twitter handle into a gallery of political commentary, oftentimes attacking Donald Trump and his supporters.
Carrey has used his presence on social media to speak out on politics and conservation issues for years, but it wasn’t until around the time of Trump’s inauguration that Carrey began to use painting to drive his point home.
Most recently, Carrey has criticized the Trump administration’s response to school shootings as well as Facebook’s alleged profit from Russian interference during the election.
One of his recent paintings has caused a stir with social media users. According to AP News, Carrey is being criticized online for a portrait he painted that is believed to be House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Carrey posted the painting to his Twitter with the caption “This is the portrait of a so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked. Monstrous!”
Social media users, as well as Fox News and Mike Huckabee, criticized Carrey’s use of “Christian” as well as claiming that he is shaming Sanders due to the nature in which he portrayed her.
