An HIV/AIDS organization is hosting a photography contest – “A Day with HIV” – on Sept. 21.
People are asked to focus attention – and lenses – on the daily trials and triumphs of people living with HIV.
Portraits taken that day will be shared with a panel of judges and published in the organization’s November/December magazine.
The judges include Styx bass player Chuck Panozzo, actress Sheryl Lee Ralph and transgender activist Diego Sanchez, who works for U.S. Rep. Barney Frank.
An announcement for “A Day with HIV” said on Sept. 21 “people everywhere, both HIV positive and negative, can share an image of coping and care through the lens of a camera. For the third year. A Day with HIV will help remove the stigma of HIV and to advance an international community of care through this collective photographic portrait.”
Photos taken on Sept. 21 must be submitted by Sept. 25 for consideration in the contest.
