The student government association at Elon University in Elon, N.C., has voted to oust a Chick-fil-A restaurant from its campus because of the chain’s anti-gay policies.

The company’s president has boasted of Chick-fil-A’s opposition to marriage equality and the family-operated businesses side support of anti-gay organizations.

Earlier this month, the student government group voted 35-11 to have the campus food vendor replace Chick-Fil-A with a non-discriminatory company.

The university’s student body president still must act on the resolution, and then the school’s top administrators must decide whether to kick Chick-fil-A from the campus.

The student resolution said Chick-fil-A doesn’t fit the private school’s pledge against discrimination.

Davidson College in North Carolina also has moved to oust Chick-fil-As after president Dan Cathy said that God would judge harshly a nation that supports marriage for gays and lesbians.
