Students from seven U.S. campuses are circulating petitions on Change.org asking for administrators to oust Chick-fil-A franchises.

All the petitions are challenging the company’s support for anti-gay organizations and the Chick-fil-A president’s boasting of such.

Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy recently told a radio interviewer “as it relates to society in general, I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, ‘We know better than You as to what constitutes a marriage’... I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we would have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is all about.”

Through the company’s charitable arm, WinShape, and direct charitable donations, Chick-fil-A is reported to have given more than $2 million to anti-gay groups.

The petitions target officials at the University of Illinois, University of Kansas, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Ball State University, College of Charleston, Wichita State University and Minnesota State University.

“In the last several days, the president of Chick-fil-A, Dan Cathy, reaffirmed the company’s anti-gay marriage stance and their allocation of funds to support organizations countering the marriage equality movement,” wrote petition drafter James Castle, a law student at the University of Kansas.

“Because Chick-fil-A’s stance on gay rights could create a hostile environment for queer youth and allies, having a Chick-fil-A on campus deeply conflicts with the University of Kansas Mission on Values and the chancellor’s and provost’s personal commitments to diversity at KU.”

Activists also are organizing a nationwide same-sex kiss-in on Aug. 3 at Chick-fil-A restaurants.

A Facebook event page says, “In honor of their support for love, equality, and the real definition of family, we’re holding a NATIONAL Same Sex Kiss Day at Chick Fil A’s around the country. So grab a friend (or 20) and head out to your nearest Chick Fil A! And don’t forget to post photos/videos of it here! For all the world to see!”
